Yeah like I mentioned in the caveat at the end of the article, and in reply to Remarkl’s response, I’m not sure if my point is correct or not, even if it’s still a useful intellectual exercise. I think perpetual economic growth on Earth is a challenge because of ecological constraints on the planet’s carrying capacity, but economic growth that includes expansion beyond Earth should be entirely plausible, in theory. Although it does indeed all rely on energy, obviously.
