I agree that the problematic instincts that I’ve derided here have their roots in evolution. However that’s not the same as saying that they’re still inevitable, let alone desirable.
We human beings are just relatively intelligent animals, and we have several primitive tendencies that are remnants of ancient necessity, as you’ve outlined. What we now call patriarchy is one of them. Tribalism is another. These drives served useful purposes to human communities for a long time during our evolution, but they’re now more destructive than useful at this stage in our evolutionary story, and it’s time we understood them and transcended them, for our own sake if nothing else.
